For fans of Rolex, Baselworld 2016 was all about the stainless steel Daytona finally receiving a ceramic bezel and a dial modification. The new Air King also hit the headlines for its new iteration. The new addition to the Yachtmaster lineup was under the radar and didn’t receive as much attention. For the first time the Yachtmaster is available in a combination of 904L stainless steel and 18ct Everose Gold. The Rolex Yachtmaster can be looked upon as the blinged up version of its older brother in the Rolex lineup: The Submariner.

The Yachtmaster can be seen as taking its design roots from the Submariner and evolving them by tweaking certain elements such as the bezel and dial materials to attract a luxury yachting clientele with its nautical name.

That being said the Yachtmaster is still an attractive looking timepiece and the latest model released at Baselworld is no exception.

The Case, Dial and Hands

The case is 40mm in diamater and is manufactured from 904L stainless steel. The case has been polished to a mirror shine to provide a contrast to the Oyster bracelet which is a mixture of brushed stainless steel and the polished centre links of 18 ct Everose gold. This combination is referred to as two tone & Rolex have used the word “Rolesor” since 1933 to describe the combination of steel and a precious metal. The dial is a sunburst chocolate colour which has a nice depth to it. One special feature of the Yachtmaster dial is the printing of the word “Yachtmaster” in red. Completing the dial is the date at the 3 o’clock position where the iconic cyclops sits above it on the sapphire crystal The dial is further extenuated by the 18 ct pink gold hour markers. The graduated sixty minute bezel with raised markers is made from 18ct Everose gold and has a thicker font to it.

Unlike the Submariner, the bezel of the Yachtmaster is bi-directional and and it does not have a luminescent dot fitted to the triangle marker in the bezel. The two tone Oyster bracelet comes with the Easylink 5 mm comfort extension link, which is always useful on a hot day if your wrist has swelled and the bracelet becomes a tad tight. The watch is water resistant to 100m, which means you can get it wet from the waves splashing on your wrist, as you sit on the deck of a yacht or decide to take a dip in the ocean.

The movement

Like all Oyster models, the new Ref Ref 116621 contains a solid caseback so unfortunately the movement cannot be viewed. Powering the watch is the in-house self winding Calibre 3135 with anti magnetic Parachrom Bleu hairspring. It has a power reserve of 48 hours. In addition to COSC testing, after the timepiece is fully assembled and cased it goes through further testing by Best Replica Rolex Watches to ensure an accuracy of −2/+2 seconds per day. It may not be finished to haute horlogerie standards but it is a very reliable calibre.

The new Yachtmaster 40 Everose Rolesor is a nice addition to the Yachtmaster lineup.
